I've always been partial to Minnesota's building.
One of the prettiest is West Virginia. I was living there while Gov. Jay Rockefeller brought in a family from Italy to apply 23.5 carat gold leaf to the dome.
While he was doing that, the locals were busy burning down a new building meant to house the mentally handicapped because they didn't want "frikin retards" moving into the area. [img]confused.gif[/img]

North Dakota's is an office building. How is that pretty?
Ohio's certainly isn't the easiest on the eye, but I don't think it's the worst. I think the interior is quite nice.
Check out Alaska's. That's even worse then North Dakota's.
Wait. Florida's is the ugliest. Looks like an office building in downtown Columbus.

Nebraska, indeed, has the unicameral legislative body (which,let's face it- all states should have. I see the need for the bicameral legislature at the Federal level, but why do we need an Ohio Sentate and an Ohio House? No, the Senate doesn't represent the "cities", they are basically the same house only there are fewer Senators).
Oklahoma basically shows its allegiance to Kerr-McGee- I mean, to its rich oil history with working oil wells on its capitol grounds (and good to here from Ickey!)
Contrary to your assertions, question 3 is not subjective but is, in fact, objective- if we count the grounds, Frankfort, Kentucky has the most beautiful set-up, especially in the spring with its wonderful floral clock. Honorable mention goes towards Charleston as Lan mentions, St. Paul is nice, as is Montpelier.
The ugliest capitol is none other than our own cheesebox on a raft in Columbus.
Dishonorable mention to Baton Rouge, which, on the tour, they show you the blood-stained walls where Huey Long got capped.
Santa Fe is unique in that it's in that native adobe style construction, I don't know if it's "beautiful" but it's really neat. The top step at Denver marks exactly 5,280' above sea level. And who can't be touched by the anchor from the U.S.S. Arizona that adorns the grounds in Phoenix (provided you're not there on a day when it's 115 in the shade).
